All I could think about when I heard this was how it's another sign of developing Collapse. The Elites have created a "stateless" global currency that allows them to effortlessly move their money in and out of countries without oversight or regulation.

So true, Richard. There is no allegiance to country by the elites, although I am not a big fan of that anyhow. The Earth so reduced by our activity needs to be thought of as a whole. The stateless economy the elites envision are fiefdoms.

We are getting so smart. All the ways we were fooled are crumbling. And it’s sizzling enough now that attention has to be paid, not by choice but by circumstances.

After enjoying your wordsmithy tripping in the bowels of reality – well, most of it -- one reaction is now what? Whatever the story, we are where we are.

How about looking ahead, open to what appears, as we press on our unthinkable situation? Like this essay appeared, and I’m writing a comment. Being eager and open for now, I think, is the advice to give. Be informed and ready, in a pounce mentality.

That people don’t know the threat is a different matter. It’s a good issue. How to teach that? Not to MAGA types, but to people who just haven’t been paying attention.

"After enjoying your word smithy tripping in the bowels of reality – well, most of it..."

Lol. Yeah, I got a bit rude. Not my normal go to, but not inappropriate I feel given the vulgarity of current events.

We can't stand up to tanks. The regime is begging for physical confrontation they can label as radical. They WILL kill us given any excuse. Depriving them of money is a legitimate tactic. The IRS is gutted to enable billionaire looting. We have some financial devices available to us. Can I get my dumbass neighbor to stop the Amazon truck from pulling up twice a week?

There may even be some MAGA crossover as they suffer the consequences of this administration's policies. The more they hurt, the more we may find common, if imperfect ground. The common people need to be educated about whom the enemies are.

"The common people" are many sophisticated folks I engage with, who aren't paying attention to the deep dives into the horror of things. A campaign to educate them would be a very smart thing to do.

How about you and I and a few others thinking together about that? Not just experts on the danger, but people who are insightful about human behavior. That would be such a good topic for getting some coordination among us that could go on to look at what to do after that.

Our troubles all come back to behavior, don't they? That's a deep dig to say the least requiring knowledge of many cultures for comparison. Every animal seeks to dominate its environment. Too much success leads to collapse of that environment. The St. Mathew island deer population collapse is perhaps instructive.

The lack of engagement you refer to is a result of abject media and education failure. Basic science should be instilled in grade school and high school, part of minimal literacy of how the planet works. The media should be reporting on the Sixth Extinction and the tipping points we are crossing.

Big Oil executives who knew where all of this was heading in the 1970s should be jailed for crimes against humanity. There are people calling these things out, essentially like myself with platforms that are a spit in the wind.

Protesting on No Kings Day revealed in my informal conversations near complete unawareness of what climate change means on a practical level and complete unawareness of the term overshoot.

Sure, we could brainstorm. Not a fan of Teddy Roosevelt, but our voices are too soft. We need a really big stick.

Big money could help. Like getting an ad agency to do a huge campaign to teach people. Or what else? That’s what we could do a brainstorm about. Not just a broad question of what to do in our situation, as I’ve suggested before, but specifically about waking humanity up to how bad things are. That has to be doable and I see that as what should come next. Not a huge bunch but a few sharp, passionate people. You know the players. Who?

Wholeheartedly agree, mustn't go on tho - you already know what I think of your writing. Signed, another 'participant'.
