Very detailed analysis, thank you! Yes, this war of choice and hubris is illegal in many ways, and will not bring the results the Pedo-Pres desires, and should be the end of the Outlaw Empire. But yes, the nuclear threat from the deranged zionist settler colony increases daily.

This article started out with the intention of focusing solely on climate change, but this despicable and dangerous attack changed that. It's an exceedingly dangerous situation. Even if we escape the nuclear threat, everyone will suffer for this insanity, Thanks, Kathleen.

It could just as easily come from the US if, for just one example, Iran manages somehow to hit an aircraft carrier.

Yes, there are multiple ways this war could result in nuclear escalation. I emphasized the Samson Option because I think most people are unaware of it and because the way Israel is getting hammered and the impending weapons shortage make this particular threat all too real.

Yes, anger "trumps" reason every time. Already the consequences thus far are never a consideration.

Thanks for putting this all down in outline. Dark times indeed. I too was on the front end of activists warning about climate change, and I too, am heartbroken that humanity has been too addicted and willfully ignorant to act. I agree with you and have also written about the billionaire class hegemony. Today, I posted a piece surmising how humanity (and the rest of nature) might have fared had we not discovered petroleum. Hard to see a healthy way through this at this point. https://cylviahayes.substack.com/p/what-would-we-be-without-oil. Thanks for your work.

Until a few years ago my favorite activity was bicycling and hiking over mountains in upstate NY. Health issues ended that, and I feel fortunate to be able to write. I'm pretty sure I would have been just as happy running footpaths through the woods if fossil fuels hadn't made pavement and beloved bicycles possible.

I liked your article, many good points. Even without coal and oil we were likely destined to outstrip the planet's resources eventually, albeit much more slowly. We hunted megafauna to extinction and laid forests low long before the discovery of coal.

Most of us wouldn't wish to give up heat in the winter, indoor plumbing and sanitation, but every technological advancement results in shortening our time as a species (and innumerable others) on the planet. Most invention at this point is superfluous, needlessly hastening our demise. We need growth of wisdom, not gadgets.

Thanks for dropping a note. I do agree that the larger issue is excessive consumption. I've written and spoken on that topic more times than I can count. That's why I made the observations about whaling and deforestation. This piece was linking our addiction to oil and the many oil related wars that have resulted.

I thought bringing up whaling was excellent. Somehow it's a forgotten issue consigned to history, but it's really not as whales continue to be slaughtered today, clearly a highly intelligent species. The moral implications and practical evidence of their demise is instructive. Top of the ocean food chain, their reduction from CO2 saturated oceans should serve as an urgent warning.

Brilliant essay and very illuminating. You have a genius for connecting the dots.

Thank you, Michael. It's tiring, but necessary to try to put the bigger picture together.

Omg "Known as the Samson Option, it refers to Israel’s implied readiness to resort to nuclear weapons if it were ever facing the prospect of annihilation."

Trump regime removal essential. NOW. Goeffrey, how about this?
