When I started writing here nearly four years ago, it was to write about climate change. I suspected that was humanity’s greatest threat and began researching — easily many hundreds of hours — learning about overshoot along the way. Overshoot encompasses sixteen existential threats to the future of life on the planet, of which climate change is just one, not just humanity’s, but to virtually all the life we admire, and much of the life we labeled as pests and declared war on. This summer I have seen exactly one housefly. Ants that used to busy themselves in the cracks of my driveway are gone, and there is no bird song in my neighborhood.
Four years ago, I naively hoped in the face of extinction humanity would unite. Instead, today we have an evil alliance of religious zealots — Christian and Jewish Zionists — who believe the Rapture is at hand, that they are the chosen ones; deluded billionaire technologist psychopaths convinced they can ride out collapse in luxury bunkers and upload their consciousnesses to computers, and; the poster children of brainwashed ignorance, consumers of right-wing media, (not that “liberal” media is much better). Let’s call them the Unholy Trinity. We’re experiencing End Times neocapitalism, the final cannibalization of an inhabitable planet at the hands of mentally ill subhumans who favor genocide in Gaza. All three believe whites are the master race (Hitler would be proud), particularly Christian whites who apparently have never read the Sixth Commandment or can justify the three exceptions to that "rule." Apparently, all Palestinians are criminals (rule exception one), even infants and toddlers, and killing is justified in warfare (rule exception two). Do we not have a war? Or is it really a wholesale slaughter of a people with their backs to the Mediterranean Sea which is just coincidentally filled to the brim with oil and natural gas? The Levant Basin Province holds an estimated 1.7 billion barrels of recoverable oil and 122 trillion cubic feet of LNG. And of course, there’s being an intruder in someone’s home (rule exception three). Who was the intruder when Israel was created in 1948 by the British and America in that sloshing sea of Middle Eastern oil? Just asking.
Before calling me an antisemite, a popular and illegitimate accusation in these Just Beginning of Terrible Times, Jews clearly needed a place to go after WWII and the horrors of the holocaust. California had plenty of space did it not, and at the opening exhibition of the Statue of Liberty in 1883 Emma Lazarus’s poem, The New Colossus was read. We all know the most famous words, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.” I guess that’s just a lot of yada yada now as masked thugs kidnap people off the street, getting the prison industry all hot and bothered.
Please explain to me how any group of people get to Heaven after committing or aiding mass murder.
Of course the prison industry is giddy. CoreCivic CEO Damon Hininger anticipates inmate beds to increase from 41,000 to between 150,000 to 200,000 under the kind beneficence of the New Reich. This presents us with new investment opportunities, my friends. You can thank me later for the tip. I’ll be lounging in my new bed in Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in Hartsville, TN, for speaking my mind freely. The place has a reputation. Apparently, I’ll also be enjoying violence and sexual abuse.
It’s good to have a growth industry in these difficult economic times, don’t you think?
Speaking of growth and rehabilitation, let’s congratulate Ron DeSantis! We all know how he has struggled since making his bid to be king, bravely enduring the withering intellectual attacks of a man who is “like, really smart, a very stable genius, and has the biggest, best brain.” Trump has called poor Ron “DeSaster” (that’s a play on DeSantis, I can’t believe I have to explain this to you), “DeSanctimonious,” and “Meatball Ron.” So clever! I know under the weight of these scholarly critiques I’d be at a total loss, except for the fact that I attended Trump University, whereas poor Ron didn’t, so I am far more clever. Of course, so is a slime mold.
Anyhow, Ron who has shown deep concern for climate change by deleting the term from state law saw an opportunity to boost the Florida economy being blown to smithereens in the face of a 34 percent property owner insurance surge since 2022. Obviously, this has nothing to do with 2024’s $36 billion Hurricane Milton, fake news and an obvious leftist (therefore socialist therefore communist) plot. Trusted Resource Underwriters Exchange (TRUE), aw, cute acronym for vampires, a Florida-based insurer is seeking a 31 percent rate hike, initially wanting a 60 percent increase, but scaled it back to make it more palatable for regulators. But by golly, don’t worry about the Florida economy, DeSackoshit (don’t worry Donald, you can use that) came up with Alligator Alcatraz, and here it is making the Florida Everglades great again!

Slated to hold up to 5000 immigrants, the pop-up concentration camp was erected within the Big Cypress National Preserve, traditional Miccosukee land. The tribe was not consulted, well of course not. Betty Osceola, a tribe member pointed out, “Our ancestors were laid to rest in this area, and they talk about it like it’s a vast wasteland. It’s not.” Yada yada. We’re white, therefore we are right.
And here’s the really great thing. Not only does this circus tent prison remove the immigrants we depend on to harvest the crops out in our fields and perform the dreary tasks required in our meat packing facilities, (totally not causing disruptions, spoilage, or inflation), it has spawned a merchandise industry so that we can wear our ignorance with pride! Go capitalism, go!
Sigh. Holiday weekend.
I remember when I was far less informed, and far more carefree. Holidays and parties were fun. I’d jump in my Mazda RX-7 or jump on one of the motorcycles I had from a past life I remember, but no longer feel. In those days I didn’t realize the gravity of the path we were on or how quickly it would arrive. Of all things a family reunion is happening, on the 3rd and 4th, many cousins, aunts, and uncles from western states coming east to my town. I’m confident many or possibly most of them are Fox News watchers, and would approve of Alligator Alcatraz. Most I haven’t seen in decades, and my interest is low. Somehow I have to bridge the gap with as many of them as possible. I’ll be looking for gentle opportunities while avoiding confrontation. That’s a difficult, but necessary job.
You my readers are much more the community I feel comfort with, people who are aware, engaged, and committed to learning and fighting for the future. Thank you for being with me, and try to leave some of your worries behind for a few days.

I find it astounding that people miss the fact that Arthur C Clarke - best know as author of “2001: A Space Odyssey” stated clearly that the time of biological evolution is over. Now - he and his wealthy, powerful white friends sgreed - is the time of “mechanical evolution.”
Peter Thiel and Elon Musk and a few ultra wealthy powerful folks see the biosphere as a sacrifice zone from which they have already separated themselves.

MAGA and Christofascism and Zionism are useful tools for people who believe in nothing other than ecocide and genocide. Cruelty is the point, and the futile chimera of godlike individual eternal life is an irresistible temptation for some as well.

Now we need to unite together in communities of mutual aid that are rooted in earth. The odds are pretty poor that anyone will “survive”. But survival has never been the point.
The point has always been to truly thrive - to live and love and make a way for life as best as we can.
Meatball Ron has proven to be Gestapo worthy. The slimy, pasty-white cretin in his white go-go boots already took away water breaks for people working outdoors in the Flori-Duh sun, so his foray into swampy penal colonies is a natural fit.
It seems the MAGATS are determined to outdo each other inflicting pain on people of color. Those who are guilty of the serious transgression of wanting safety and a better life for their families. The USA sure taught them a lesson.
