I love socialists, but even socialists seem to put our environment and fellow creatures such as wildlife, in a big last place as far as political issues are concerned. TG for global warming issues, because they are (finally) educating and making people more concerned about our little earth’s environmental health. It is sad how most of humanity does not understand environmentalism and never did. Global humanity needs to be taught how important air, water, natural places and wildlife is, and how ugly and destructive human overpopulation is and what an irresponsible disgrace it is to drive our fellow creatures to the brink and become instinct. Why in the hell couldn’t we save the White Rhino? A lack of people who even cared, and money. It is sad that humans must explain anything in cold, conscious-less monetary terms. People have been conditioned (brainwashed) to think that cityscapes are wonderful human achievements, along with super malls, islands of urban cement such as NYC, massive highways and urban sprawl. People need to take responsibility. People shouldn’t have more than two children and should not even have two, considering the harm over-population does to our planet. How unfortunate for the world that you are not our president.
Ultimately, the planet determines what we can and cannot do. The massive input of energy by coal and oil has allowed us to live beyond our means, and not only is it destroying an inhabitable planet, it is running out in terms of EROI. Climate, overshoot and transitioning to a low energy world should be driving policy everywhere. Even with agreement and cooperation this would be a Herculean task at this point.
Renewables are a sham IMO, as the mining required depends on dwindling heavy oil derived diesel, never mind mining's competition for shrinking water resources or the fact that the metals and minerals required are also shrinking, with the easiest deposits to access like copper already harvested. The modest build out of this tech we've achieved can at best can serve as a buffering (and inadequate) transition to a very low energy world as the planet was designed for.
These fundamental realities are seemingly lost on 99 percent of the population.

We need to make the world kinder and think beyond our trivial borders and the social differences that separate us. Globally, all people and the animal-kingdom are far more alike than not. We eat, we sleep, we feel pain, fear, sadness, love and joy… And now we must team-work to save the earth and all the life on it. And we must drive the big, blind, corporate and neocon’s demolition to extinction, and live symbiotically on earth, or die.
I think It is a matter of global education and ethics. We must educate the world to desperately save what is left. If the people listening agree with what a candidate has to say, I think their physical appearance and demographics become much less or unimportant.
